Thank you for using Matome Post (hereinafter referred to as "the App" or "we"). This Privacy Policy sets forth how we handle information in connection with your use of the Windows desktop application "Matome Post."
Information We Collect
The App collects and processes only the following information in order to provide its core functionality:
- OAuth Access Tokens: When you connect a social media account such as TikTok, Instagram, X (Twitter), Facebook, YouTube, Threads, or LINE, the access token issued at that time is stored locally on your device.
- Post Content: Text, images, videos, and other post content created within the App are processed on your device and sent directly to the official APIs of each social media platform.
- App Settings: Your settings and configuration data are stored locally on your device.
- Third-Party API Keys: If you use the AI post generation or research features, the API keys you have obtained and registered yourself for AI services (Anthropic / OpenAI) and the YouTube Data API are stored in encrypted form on your device.
We do not store any personally identifiable information on our servers. Data is, as a rule, kept on the user's local device; it is transmitted externally only in the cases described in Sections 3 and 4.
Purpose of Use
The information collected is used solely for the following purposes:
- To authenticate your account through each social media platform's official API.
- To post content to your connected social media accounts based on your instructions.
- To save your settings and account information for your convenience.
Third-Party Social Media APIs
The App integrates with the official APIs of the following social media platforms to publish content based on your instructions. Access tokens for each platform are stored only on your local device and are never transmitted to our servers. Use of each social media platform is subject to its respective terms of service and privacy policy.
- TikTok (TikTok Pte. Ltd.): Uses the TikTok for Developers API to upload videos and content, and to retrieve profile information to the extent required by the API specifications. Privacy Policy
- Instagram (Meta Platforms, Inc.): Uses the Instagram Graph API to upload images and videos and retrieve account information. Privacy Policy
- X (Twitter) (X Corp.): Uses the X API to create posts and upload media. Privacy Policy
- Facebook (Meta Platforms, Inc.): Uses the Facebook Graph API to publish to Facebook Pages and retrieve page information. Privacy Policy
- YouTube (Google LLC): Uses the YouTube Data API to upload videos and retrieve channel information. Privacy Policy
- Threads (Meta Platforms, Inc.): Uses the Threads API to create posts and retrieve account information. Privacy Policy
- LINE (LY Corporation): Uses the LINE Messaging API / LINE Login to deliver messages and retrieve profile information. Privacy Policy
Transmission to Other External Services
To work within the constraints of certain social media APIs, and to provide optional features, the App may transmit data to the following external services. In all cases the data is sent directly from the user's device to the service in question, and never passes through our servers.
- File-sharing services (catbox.moe / 0x0.st / uguu.se): When posting images or videos to Threads or LINE, the APIs of those platforms accept only media that is already hosted at a publicly accessible URL. The App therefore uploads the media file to one of these anonymous file-sharing services and passes the resulting public URL to the platform. Uploaded files can be viewed by any third party who knows the URL, and depending on the service they are retained for an extended period (catbox.moe: indefinitely; 0x0.st: approximately 30 days; uguu.se: approximately 3 hours). LINE in particular loads the media from this URL when the message is viewed, so short-retention services cannot be used for it. We are unable to delete files once they have been uploaded. Please take care when posting media to Threads or LINE that you would not want third parties to see.
- AI services (Anthropic / OpenAI): Only if you use the AI post generation or AI analytics features, the text you enter, the product and business information you have registered, and the statistics retrieved from each platform's official API are sent to those companies' APIs using the API key you registered yourself. If you do not use these features, no data is transmitted to these services.
- YouTube Data API and referenced public websites (research feature): Only if you use the research feature, the search keywords you enter are sent to the YouTube Data API and to the public websites being referenced.
Data Storage and Security
Data handled by the App (including OAuth tokens, post content, settings, and API keys) is stored on the user's Windows device. We do not operate any servers that receive, store, or process the user's personal data. However, as described in Section 4, media files may be uploaded to external file-sharing services as part of the posting process.
OAuth tokens and third-party API keys are encrypted using the standard Windows encryption facility before being stored on the device. The user is responsible for the security of the device itself.
Disclosure to Third Parties
We do not sell or transfer user information to third parties. Because we operate no servers that collect or store user data, we are never in a position to disclose user data to a third party at our own discretion.
User data is transmitted externally only in the following cases, each of which results from the user's own action:
- Transmission to the social media platforms the user has explicitly selected as posting destinations (Section 3)
- Transmission to the external services described in Section 4
Data Retention Period
Data is stored on the user's device for as long as the App is in use. The user may delete all data held on the device at any time by uninstalling the App or deleting the App's data folder.
However, media files uploaded to the file-sharing services described in Section 4, and content already published to social media platforms, are not removed by deleting the App. The former is subject to each service's own retention period, and the latter must be deleted by the user on the platform concerned.
Changes to This Policy
We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time. When revisions are made, we will notify users by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after such revision will be deemed acceptance of the revised policy.
